Colour is one of the determinants in architecture, which is perceived strongly subjectively. Colourfulness is a quality of expression that appeals directly to us because it structures space and can produce various effects. The subdivision into different colour surfaces for walls, floor and ceiling makes the room appear as a group of different components. Light surfaces on the ceilings make a room appear higher, dark surfaces lower. Red, yellow or orange are warm tones. Green or blue, on the other hand, appear cooler.
