CO2 is a chemical compound of carbon and oxygen. It is a colourless and odourless gas and is a natural component of air with a concentration of approx. 0.04%. It is produced both during the complete combustion of carbon-containing substances (under sufficient oxygen) and in living organisms as a by-product of respiration. In the atmosphere, carbon dioxide contributes to the greenhouse effect. High concentrations of carbon dioxide inside houses/apartments/rooms can be referred to as "bad air" and can be avoided by ventilation.
